Wow, the non-stop talking and following me around the house is back. I am once again bewildered on the difference between days on and days off the steroids. Kent was full of, as my mother always says, “piss and vinegar” this morning (what does that really mean?) He was up at 5:30 a.m. riding his bike, and ate a breakfast big enough for the entire family. He was on a roll last night discussing his college days with Kristina and Chris, giving advice on what not to do and telling stories that they have heard a dozen times, but still had them laughing.
Kent took his first chemo pill last night and I sat there watching him as if something horrible would happen. Actually, he seems fine and at least for now, he doesn’t seem to be nauseaus or tired. He left for work this morning ready to tackle the day…just warning everyone at work.
We had a nice surprise phone call from Kent’s youngest brother Kendall after dinner last night and the call only ended because his phone card ran out of minutes. I guess with everything, good things do happen. We have had the chance to talk to Kendall more in the last two months then in the last year and it is really nice. We love catching up with him and hearing about his life experiences, as he has taken on a much different path than ours living in the mid-West and raising a family. By the time the call ended Kent was digging out the U.S. Atlas and planning our next family vacation. Don’t worry Kendall, we have to get through the next few months before we show up at your doorstep! Anyway, it was just nice last night sharing our stories and pretending he was in our livingroom with us. That reminds me, I could really use some more of those potatoes!!
Be blessed today, hug your kids, avoid honking at that slow driver on the highway, and wave at the little children playing outdoors as they finally enjoy the balmy Michigan weather!!
